When talent development becomes a youth literature club on television

Two years, 23 episodes, a project that has grown far beyond the classroom: as a producer and teacher for gifted and talented education, I worked together with Christian Dubs (Televista Wallisellen) to build the Jugendliteraturclub (Youth Literature Club) — a TV format in which students from our gifted education program present children's books and share their own opinions on camera.

What began as a gifted-education project reached Televista's highest viewer ratings after just a few episodes and is now broadcast nationwide across Switzerland. This was made possible by a fantastic team: Televista, host Christian Dubs, volunteer camera operators, and Patricia Sigl from the Wallisellen/ Switzerland media library, who selected the books and delighted everyone with professionally prepared book presentations — and, not least, the children themselves, who grew visibly more confident from episode to episode and for whom this became a highlight of their gifted education experience.

What makes me especially proud is how lasting this experience has proven to be: children from the youth literature club went on to take part in the follow-up project "Teach Yourself" with great confidence and media literacy.

A wonderful example of how individual talent development, genuine commitment, and media visibility can come together — and how much joy it brings to everyone involved.
